The schools of feng shui can be classified
in three categories: Traditional or Classical Feng Shui Schools, Black
Sect Tantric Buddhism School of Feng Shui and the Intuitive/Modern Feng Shui
Schools.
Traditional/Classical Feng Shui Schools
includes the Form School of Feng Shui and the Compass Feng Shui School, which further divide
into such schools as Flying Star, Eight Mansions, and other.
Form School of Feng Shui examines the symbolism of the landscape
without referring to the compass directions. Compass Feng Shui School
utilizes the compass, the ba gua, lo shu and feng shui
calculations.
Black Hat Sect Tantric Buddhist Feng
Shui School (BTB) was developed in the US about fifteen years ago
by the Grandmaster Thomas Lin Yun. It is a combination of
Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism and Classical Feng
Shui School.
Intuitive/Modern Feng Shui School is a Western
adaptation of some levels of Traditional Feng Shui School. Instead of
Chinese culturally-specific feng shui symbols, cures more appropriate to
Western lifestyle and taste are being used.
Most of
what the public reads or hears about Feng Shui comes from one
particular feng shui school style or from a combination of similar feng shui school styles.
