Explore the Map of Your Home Feng Shui Energy

Your home has its own energy map, just like anything else has an exploration map, too, be it the map of a country or the map of your body (think of energy meridians). On a basic level, the feng shui map of your home functions just like any other map – it shows where you are at the present moment and how to get to where you want to be.

The brilliance of feng shui – when applied in a healthy, no nonsense way – is that it always clearly shows you the interconnectedness of all forms of energy around you. When you start applying feng shui, you can suddenly see and understand how a cluttered closet promotes a chaotic behaviour pattern, or how a direct door alignment leaves the house with little energy to sustain itself (thus not having enough energy to support you).

Even though feng shui is so very, very complex (what else can you expect from a 5,000+ years body of knowledge?) the basic feng shui steps can always be explained and applied in a simple, clear and logical way. I am here to help you do just that!

To start seeing lasting results when working with feng shui, it is always recommended to define the feng shui map of your home. You certainly do not have to do that right away, as there are many great feng shui tips that can be applied with good results without knowing the feng shui map of your home, such as the basic feng shui tips for your bedroom or the feng shui bathroom tips, for example.

However, just as a map clearly helps with any journey, so does the feng shui map of your home help you achieve your goals quicker and with less effort, wasted time or resources.

So, what is this mystical, powerful and intriguing feng shui energy map?

The energy map of your home is called the bagua of your home. You can define the feng shui bagua of any given space, be it an office, a garden and even a car, but I would like us to focus just on your home for now.

Bagua (also spelled Ba Gua, Ba Kua or Pa Kua) translates from Chinese as 8 areas. Basically, the ancient feng shui masters not only defined the 8 major life areas that are important for your happiness and well being, they also mapped the connection between these life areas and the state of your home, or your living space.

As per this ancient and powerful body of knowledge, your house has a specific area that is connected to your love life, for example, and another one connected to your health, and yet another one connected to your career success, and so on.

Here is a list of these 8 major life areas defined by ancient feng shui masters; each one of these life areas is connected to a specific area of your house:

Each of these 8 areas needs specific care and attention in your home, meaning best feng shui decor as defined by specific colors, shapes, images, etc. When a feng shui bagua area of your home is treated right, your life area that corresponds to this bagua area is improved.

I know this might sound a bit strange or even silly, but trust me I have been a feng shui consultant for so long, I know beyond a shadow of the doubt that this is true.

It does not matter if you live in a small studio or a big mansion, this feng shui energy map, when applied correctly, can accurately show not only specific patterns in your life right now, but also the way to improve what needs to be improved by working with the energy of your space.

This does not mean you have to have strange looking objects in your home. In fact, it is best not to go for any traditional feng shui cures like the money frog, the dragon turtle, Chi Lins, Pi Yao and others unless you really like them. For each of the classical feng shui cures there is at least one modern cure that can work just as well for your home, you just have to know what you are doing and feel confident about it.

Excellent feng shui can be achieved with beautiful modern decor, no need for items you do not like or understand the meaning of.

    Hi Rodika,
I liked your website a lot and its really useful.
I have a question, while finding the bagua area it should be for the whole house or for each room?
Also how to find which direction is the house facing?
I live in a rented apartment so in such a case how do we define the bagua .
    Thank you.
    eagerly waiting for your reply.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I would like to ask you for help.
We are about to move in a new great apartment. Wonderful one.
It has only an big problem. as it is a bigger one, it is composed from 2 apartments, that means that it has 2 entrances, opposed to each other. Practically the entrance area is in the middle of the house like an island.
I was thinking to use the western Bagua, i find it easier to use, but now I don t know how to use it. The entrance wall is the one in the middle of the room.

Whichever entrance i choose to enter(we will have an main one) I still can measure only half of the apartment.

To imagine a square with an island in the middle as an entrance.
This apartment form my point of view has 3 problems. First I don t know how to use the bagua in here, or from where(or would you suggest the classic Bagua in this case?). 2 entrance doors facing each other. And 3 the centre is an external one. is outside.

Thank you for your help and time.

    Warm regards

I found your website is very helpful and easy to understand in explaining feng shui, however when applying the house bagua to my house plan, its very confusing.

The land where the house sits is square but the house shape is in L shape facing sout east. One bedroom in soutwest corner where I sleep and the other one on the far side of Nort East corner.

Each bedroom has adjoining bathroom toward the middle of the house where they meet the living room and the kitchen (northwest kitchen).

Main entrance to the house is thru living room which is facing south east. Looking at house bagua, it seems a lot of area is missing, what do you suggest on how to decorate the house colorwise? Please help!!!!

Thank you for your videos and web site.

Do you define the Bagua in the house as separate from the over all property? My house is poorly designed for Feng Shui, the back outside/garden area is directly south and my bedroom is directly North, kitchen is South over looking the back garden area. The problem I am having is where to place a outside water feature for the garden area, it would appear from your videos any where in the back garden/south is not appropriate for a water feature and indeed a water feature like a fish tank inside is not suitable for the Bedroom which is north.

    Kind Regards
